Welcome to Luckytohave Farm.
|
We are a small family farm located in Oregon. We have raise ADGA registered
purebred Nubians since 1972. Our original herd name was Ravenswood Nubians
of Nevada and later California. While we were still transitioning from our move to
Oregon, we lost most of our Nubians to a horrific dog attack. Only one surviving
doe line continued with us from our move. When we restarted our Nubian herd,
we took the name "Luckytohave" as a reminder that we are truly lucky to have our
wonderful animals.
We added Shetland Sheep to our small farm in 1992, becoming NASSA flock #
159. Our bloodlines have changed over the years as we became more educated
about the true type of the Shetland breed. A trip to England and the Shetland
Isles in 1995 was a pivotal point in our journey with these incredible sheep. Our
flock now consists of nearly every one of the thirteen colors (though we emphasize
the moorits & emskets) and many of the rare pattern markings. Most of our sheep
are intermediate to single coat in fleece type (but we do have a few soft double
coats) and our entire flock average is 25.4 microns.
In 1999, we added Oberhasli. The Oberhasli has given us a challenge and
humbling experience. While the breed has made incredible advances in udder
attachments and respect among other dairy goat enthusiasts, consistently
excellent udders have been hard to come by. In 2007, we finally achieved the
success with the Oberhasli that we can be proud of.

Thank you!
